The Sun Will Rise Foundation provides free peer grief support for those who have experienced the death of someone they care about due to substance use related causes. Not only from overdose, but also from suicide, homicide, accident, and medical complications due to drug/alcohol use. We understand the profound impact that grief can have on individuals, families and peers and we acknowledge the unique challenges and feelings that surround these types of losses. We are here to offer care, compassion, community, understanding, and support.

To fulfill this mission, we provide a range of grief support services including over 40 monthly in-person and/or online peer grief support meetings, free monthly events, social get togethers and workshops both in person and virtual and a private Facebook group . The groups are open to anyone 18+. Some of these are specialty group meetings that include a grandparents group, a men's only group, multiple loss group, a sibling group, a mom’s group, a parent’s group, a partner/spouse group, a substance use related suicide death group, an LGBTQ+ group, a young person group, a faith based group, a group for the newly bereaved and a people in recovery group. In-person meetings are currently being held in Bridgewater, Brighton, Brockton, Charlestown, East Boston, Falmouth, Gloucester, Hanson, Kingston, Lowell, Marlborough, Medford, Natick, Quincy, Taunton, West Barnstable, Weymouth, Worcester Massachusetts and Portland Maine.

We are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment where individuals can connect with others who have had similar experiences and receive the support that they are entitled to without stigma or shame. At The Sun Will Rise Foundation, we believe that every grieving person deserves the opportunity to receive stigma free support, experience healing and to not feel alone.
