My name is Rebecca Neergaard, and I am a research assistant working on the We-RISE study at The Fenway Institute. Our research team is currently seeking Black/African American women who may be engaged in or interested in substance use treatment and may be vulnerable to HIV to participate in a research study.

This study aims to hear directly from Black women who use drugs about their experiences seeking or engaging in substance use treatment. We are especially interested in understanding the challenges people face, as well as the factors that help support engagement in treatment, so that we can design a better, more responsive program for Black women. (Please note: participation in this study does not provide access to substance use treatment.)

Eligible participants will complete a one-time study visit that includes a brief online survey and a 60-minute interview. During the interview, participants will be asked about their experiences finding and accessing substance use treatment and their thoughts on how programs can be improved. Participants will receive $50 for completing the survey and interview.

Individuals may be eligible if they:

      • Are 18 years or older
      • Identify as a Black woman
      • Are interested in seeking substance use treatment

If you or someone you know may be interested, please feel free to reach out using the contacts below or share:

      Thank you so much!
