SUMMARY:Grief & Loss for Direct Service Providers
DESCRIPTION:Grief is one of the most shared universal human experiences\, and at the same time a truly unique personal experience. Grief is a natural emotional\, somatic response to all kinds of loss\, including but not limited to the death of someone. Grief can impact the physical\, cognitive and spiritual realms of life. There are many different kinds of grief and many different ways people experience their grief. How one processes grief can often be influenced by culture and at times those around us. Direct Service Providers (DSPs) working in the overdose crisis are in a unique position often faced with multiple ongoing types of grief and loss. This workshop will explore this unique\, shared experience of grief while providing education\, resources\, tips and tools for tending to grief. \nAfter this workshop participants will be able to: \n  \n\nDefine different types of grief and loss\, especially kinds experienced in DSP work\nUnderstand a brief history of death and dying in the US and how this influenced grieving culture\nIdentify what grief can look or feel like in themselves and others\nLearn ways to support themselves and others in their grief\nRemember resources for grief peer support for DSPs

These retreats are designed as an opportunity to renew\, refresh\, reset and build community. \nSpace is limited. Completing this form lets us know you’re interested\, but it does not confirm a spot. We will follow up once registrations have been reviewed and placements are finalized. If we have more interest than space available\, we will add a waitlist.  \nImportant Details: \n       Date: June 26-28 2026 or August 14-16 2026 \n       Arrival time: 5:00 pm \n       Location: Rolling Ridge Retreat & Conference Center 660 Great Pond Rd North Andover MA \n       Includes: Lodging\, meals and activities for the weekend \n       Cost: The actual cost of this retreat is $388 per person. REGISTER HERE \nTogether we’ll spend two hours cruising through approximately two-thirds of the Cape Cod Canal to the Herring Run and back\, taking in beautiful views and enjoying live onboard commentary about the canal’s history\, landmarks and points of interest. \nThis is an opportunity to spend time with others who understand grief\, enjoy the fresh air\, and experience a peaceful evening on the water together. \nWe hope you’ll join us for this special evening! \nImportant Details\n–Cruise departs promptly at 6:30 PM \n–Please plan to arrive at least 30 minutes early \n–Metered parking is available at the pier and along Onset Avenue through the Town of Wareham \n–Indoor and outdoor seating available \n–All ages welcome \n–Restrooms onboard \n–Cash bar available with beer\, wine and mixed drinks for purchase \n–Guests are welcome to bring their own snack or non-alcoholic beverage \n–No glass containers allowed \n–No outside alcoholic beverages permitted onboard \n–Dress for the weather … layers and sunscreen are encouraged \n–We have chartered the whole boat! DESCRIPTION:With International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) coming up at the end of August this training will be focused on helping individuals and organizations think about how to remember folks who have died from overdose as well as other substance related causes. There has been a marked increase in people dying from overdose and other substance related causes over the past decade. We will discuss the increase in substance related deaths and introduce ways that we can recognize these losses to help us all process grief on a personal as well as an organizational level. This training is geared towards direct service providers as well as anyone hosting an IOAD event. \n  \nAfter the workshop participants will be able to: \n\nDiscuss grief and loss as it applies to service providers\nIdentify areas where they can recognize and process loss\nExamine current events and processes to recognize loss\nImplement various activities and events to recognize those we’ve lost

DESCRIPTION:The Sun Will Rise – Event for those bereaved due to substance use related causes.\nSunday\, August 9\, 2026\n2:00 PM  4:00 PM\nCross Street Flower Farm (map)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur group will have the farm fields to ourselves as we gather together to admire the blooms spread throughout the seven acre flower farm. Walk the rows at your own pace\, choose your stems\, and bring home a hand-cut bouquet straight from the field. We will have the opportunity to cut 20 stems of beautiful summer blooms to bring home. Zinnias\, lisianthus\, cosmos\, snapdragons\, celosia\, sunflowers\, pincushion\, globe amaranth\, grasses are among the possible varieties that may be bursting! \nRain date 8/16/26 2:00-4:00 pm \nCost: FREE but requires a $20 per person deposit that you will receive back at the event. DESCRIPTION:The Sun Will Rise and Team Sharing are excited to announce two weekend retreats for parents bereaved due to substance use related causes! These retreats are designed as an opportunity to renew\, refresh\, reset and build community. \nSpace is limited. Completing this form lets us know you’re interested\, but it does not confirm a spot. We will follow up once registrations have been reviewed and placements are finalized. If we have more interest than space available\, we will add a waitlist.  \nImportant Details: \n       Date: August 14-16 2026 \n       Arrival time: 5:00 pm \n       Location: Rolling Ridge Retreat & Conference Center 660 Great Pond Rd North Andover MA \n       Includes: Lodging\, meals and activities for the weekend \n       Cost: The actual cost of this retreat is $388 per person. Thanks to dedicated grant funding\, there is NO Cost to Attendees. There is however a $50 per person refundable deposit to hold the spot. We will send a payment link\, once your spot is confirmed.  \n       Travel: Attendees will be responsible for their own travel arrangements and costs to and from the retreat center.  \n       Agenda: Tentative schedule.
