Being Grief Informed Workshop
January 21 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm EST

Wednesday January 21st, 2026 10am – 12pm EST
Direct service providers are often required to take on many roles for the job. Workers in the overdose crisis- harm reduction and outreach specialists, those working in treatment or residential programs, recovery coaches and others have been in a unique and often difficult position supporting people through traumatic, collective and personal grief. Whether working with a program participant whose partner fatally overdosed, bearing witness to community displacement with nowhere for the displaced to go, or perhaps a co-worker experiences a loss that touches DSP work, it can sometimes be challenging to know what to say or how to be supportive. How do we help our participants, clients, residents with their grief?
After this training you will:
- Understand some of the ways people experience grief and how that may inform supports
- Learn about what it means to be “grief informed” in the workplace
- Discuss ways you can bring grief support to your work environment
- Remember supports available for grief in Massachusetts
